The three peg adapters (shown below left in beautiful Brazilian Cherry) is designed to fit atop the 24" cutting stand to allow cutting of three tatami mats at once. Item # 3PA-Oak is designed for the 24" oak cutting stand while Item# 3PA-BC is designed for the 24" Brazilian Cherry cutting stand. With the three peg adapter, buying a special cutting stand to cut three tatami mats is no longer needed.

The three peg adapter sits atop the cutting stand and mounts to the cutting stand with two black knobs which are threaded into the column of the cutting stand (see second photo above showing two knobs at the bottom of the adapter). Visible along the top are the three black knobs which hold the three pegs for the tatami mats. Although the three peg adapter will physically fit on top of the 15.5" cutting stand, the 15.5" cutting stand does not have the threaded bushings in its column. Therefore the three peg adapter should not be used on the 15.5" cutting stand.

Special note regarding the placing of tatami mats on the three peg adapter. While it is perfectly acceptable to "jam" a mat onto the center peg before performing a cut, this should not be done to the outer pegs of the three peg adapter. Doing so risks cracking the adapter . The best practice that I have seen is to remove the pegs from the adapter and using a rubber mallet drive the pegs into the mat leaving two inches exposed. Then lift the mats and place the exposed two inches of peg into the adapter holes and secure using the threaded knobs.
